Create a Name for Our Valued Multi-Degree Alumni!
Calling all members of the Oakland University community! We are reaching out to you, our valued alumni, students, faculty/staff and supporters, to help us honor a special group—alumni who have chosen OU multiple times throughout their educational journey. Whether they've returned to earn a second, third, or even fourth degree, these dedicated individuals have shown unparalleled commitment to their personal and professional growth, all while reinforcing their connection to Oakland University.
To recognize and celebrate this unique group, we are launching a contest to create an official, distinguished title for multi-degree alumni. We need your creativity to make this happen!
Round 1: Submit Your Suggestions This is where your creativity comes in! We are collecting suggestions for what we should call our alumni who have earned multiple degrees from Oakland University. Your submissions will help us identify names that reflect their dedication, resilience and enduring relationship with OU.
Round 2: The Voting Round Once we’ve gathered all of your fantastic ideas, we’ll compile a shortlist and open up voting to the community. This second phase will give you a chance to vote on your favorite names and help choose the winning title.
Submission Guidelines:
- Think outside the box! We’re looking for names that capture the prestige, loyalty and academic achievements of our multi-degree alumni.
- Be concise. A strong name is memorable and easy to recognize.
- Include an explanation if needed. If your suggested name has a special meaning or story behind it, we’d love to hear it!
How to Submit: Send your suggested name(s) through the Multi-Degree Alumni Naming Contest - Round One form. We can’t wait to see your ideas!
By contributing, you’re helping to shape the identity of the Oakland University community and have a chance for your idea to become a cherished part of OU history! The person who suggests the winning name will also receive a prize (local pick up only at OU Main Campus).

Voting Period for Round Two: Monday, March 17-Friday, April 11, 2025
Winner Announced: Tuesday, April 22, 2025
